Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a non-invasive treatment, used to address a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. It aims to restore normal, pain-free movement without the use of medication or surgery, and utilises manual techniques to address joint and soft tissue restrictions, and strengthening techniques to restore the physical balance between body parts. This is supplemented with rehabilitation exercises and stretches to achieve a pain-free return to activity.
We understand that when you're in pain, you want to be seen quickly, so all our medical centres offer a comprehensive physiotherapy service. This allows speedy access to highly qualified musculo-skeletal practitioners, who have a wealth of experience in treating City workers with all manner of musculoskeletal problems. We also have a fully-equipped rehabilitation gym at Finsbury Healthcare, and extensive rehabilitation equipment at all our other centres.
What Can Physiotherapy Treat?
Physiotherapy treats all pain and discomfort arising from the locomotor system (essentially bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves). These include low back pain, thoracic and neck pain, sports injuries, strains and sprains, nerve injuries, and postural dysfunctions aggravated by the working environment or sporting activities. We also address resultant dysfunctions following injuries such as dislocations and fractures, along with rehabilitation following surgical procedures.
The Treatment Process
The initial consultation will include a detailed discussion of the patient’s problem, followed by a comprehensive physical examination, and treatment to alleviate the symptoms. Patients can expect to receive a full explanation of their condition, an appropriate plan for the course of treatment over the coming sessions, and also a home-care programme regarding the management of their problem.
The Physio Team
All of our Physiotherapists have been qualified for at least six years, and hold post-graduate qualifications in their specialist areas, which include Manual Therapy and Manipulation, Sports Physiotherapy, and Women’s Health Physiotherapy. Physiotherapists work as independent healthcare practitioners, and a GP or Consultant referral is not always necessary. We accept self-paying clients and all our Physiotherapists are recognised by the major insurance companies.
